Looking for a reason to celebrate? Well, despite what your gut (and your sweaty brow) are telling you, we haven't set any heat records. We were 2 degrees short of the record high of 95 yesterday. On the other hand we can celebrate the first Harvard v. Yale game. Though it was only a billiards match and probably didn't draw as much attention as the football matches to come, I'm sure it was the event of its day. In another (somewhat-)interesting footnote to history, this is also the day that Bob Dylan got booed off the stage of the Newport Jazz Festival for bringing an electric guitar rather than an acoustic one.
Also this week in 1978, and in 1979, and in 1983 - Billy Martin was fired by George Steinbrenner. Could he be the only man to be fired three times from the same job?
In an effort to write our own history, we're celebrating the 91st more or less consecutive week of going out on a Wednesday with friends (and strangers) to have a drink. This week takes us to a shady, air-conditioned spot. Though probably not as shady as last week's venture to Amigos, it should be cool enough to enjoy a beer or two:
See you tonight.
