Wednesday Pub Night Portland #67 - on the road or stay at home

Back to the Pub Night home page

Hello Pubnighters!

Its a field trip! As most of you have heard by now, this week's PubNight takes us on a different type of adventure. And, since its also my birthday PubNight, I've been awarded the honors of sending out this week's information.

This Wednesday (tomorrow, 1/31), we'll travel to Bethel, Maine, one of the greatest ski towns in the universe. And while we're in the greatest ski town (or in the town next door), we'll have to do some skiing -- it is, after all, winter in Maine.

The Suds Pub is located on Main Street in Bethel, and now boasts the largest selection of draught beers in Western Maine. I haven't been here in a while, but have lots of fond, and some fuzzy, memories of apres ski evenings spent at The Suds. They also have a full menu of the usual pub-fare.

Post-PubNight (or perhaps a continuation thereof), we'll all head to "The Cat's Meow" in nearby Locke Mills (complete with Bailey, the Siamese cat. If you're allergic to cats there is an available alternative). First class accommodations include beds, linens, kitchen, bath/shower, fireplace, TV, PC, microwave, coffee pot, etc. On Thursday, we'll be skiing at nearby Mt. Abram, a short 5-min. drive from the house. Mt. Abram has special 2 for 1 ticket prices on Thursdays, so we'll be skiing for only $16.50 each! Lifts open at 9:00 a.m., and rentals are available. There's also a snow-tubing park for any non-skiers and/or the Loose Boots Lounge opens at 11:00. And lunch on Thursday is being catered by Petra.

So plan on packing your ski gear and taking a day off from work (who doesn't need one of those now and then?), and joining us for PubNight:Portland's First Ski Trip and Birthday PubDays (not to be confused with Dan's birthday PubDaze last March.
