Back to the Pub Night home page
Wednesdays in my neighborhood are the day when you can't park on one side of the street. Consequently there are half as many parking spaces available as usual. Seeing as this could present a problem as I usually return home late on Wednesdays and miss the good parking, I went and "bought" a parking spot in the small lot out the back door. Unfortunately, my new spot has historically been used as an "extra" spot or a "guest" spot, and the neighbors seem to have some trouble coming to terms with the fact that it's no longer a free-for-all spot. Believe it or not, this has influenced this week's PubNight choice. I chose just about the only pub within walking distance. This way I can park early and have one less thing to worry about at PubNight.
So, bring your appetite and thirst to:
Curiously, they're not listed in the phone book or online, but they do exist and are somewhat well sign-posted. To get there, head south/west on Congress Street towards Maine Medical Center. After passing State Street, you'll soon pass a Gulf station on your left. Bramhall Pub is on the right just past the Gulf station. If you get lost - call me on 450-4634 and we'll send out a search party. (Those of you who are familiar with my direction-writing skills will know that my directions are only good to within a few blocks of the intended destination. I once told my brother to meet me at the Blue Moon tavern on West 45 Street. He eventually found me at the Bull Moose tavern on West 44 Street. If I can get you close, I'll be happy. From there you're on your own.)
Happy Birthday to New York PubNighter Petro. Petro recently discovered an alarming fact: at PubNight in New York there is an average of 1.7 men for each woman in attendance, while in Portland there is an average of 1.4 women for each man in attendance. Laura suggests an exchange program! Any other potential solutions out there?
Hope to see you there (if you can find it).
