Hopefully, everyone is well sated and stuffed from their holiday dinners. And the only holiday tradition left yet to be fulfilled is our annual Holiday PubNight. The first holiday PubNight was way back in December 1996 and we started a tradition of heading to a restaurant/pub atop New York's Marriott Marquis. The restaurant revolved, offering every seat a great view of Manhattan (or New Jersey for part of the rotation). The closest thing I could find in Portland is the lounge atop the newly christened Eastland Park hotel (formerly the Radisson). It doesn't revolve, and the view might not be as bold but it has its own charm. And to top it all off (no pun intended), the lounge has recently been renovated. And I do mean recently! As of last Wednesday, they were still knee deep in renovating debris, and this week they're open and ready for business.
I'm putting out a call to all of the infrequent visitors to PubNight - the ones who have been once or twice only - or who have been getting the weekly emails, but never ventured forth - or who are just learning about our weekly gatherings of new and old friends, nouveau wines and aged Scotches, and this week - a new millennium and an old one. Holiday PubNight has always been somewhat of a reunion of friends we've made throughout the year, and a celebration. Come one, come all - bring your friends and your thirst. Join us for the last PubNight of the century & millennium.
