Wednesday Pub Night Portland #2 - 7:30 at Breakaway
Back to the Pub Night home page
OK, I know you've all been on the edge of your seats waiting for the
details on the second PubNight:Portland. I won't keep you in suspense
any longer.
We'll be convening PubNight at 7:30 tomorrow night at the Breakaway.
For those of you that haven't been, the Breakaway is a restaurant/bar
sort of like Rosie's but without as much character. They also have
blues bands play certain nights of the week.
The Breakaway is at the corner of India and Fore Streets - just across
from the Jordan's factory where they make those suspiciously bright red
hot dogs.
This week we'll be celebrating:
1) For the theater crowd: On November 16th, 1959, the Rodgers and
Hammerstein musical "The Sound of Music" opened on Broadway, and The
Andrew Lloyd Webber musical "Sunset Boulevard" opened on 11/17/1994
2) For the star crowd: The brightest Leonid meteor shower since the 60s
- thousands of shooting stars in the sky - best viewed Wednesday night
between 10 and midnight. (Unfortunately, the current weather forecast
includes lots of clouds.)
3) For the other kind of star crowd: Wednesday marks the birthdays of
Martin Scorsese, Lauren Hutton, Danny DeVito, and Lorne Michaels. (And
Tom Seaver for the other Mets fan.) (And RuPaul for the RuPaul fans.)
4) For the procrastination crowd: Wednesday is National Clean Out Your
Refrigerator Day. (No, I'm not making it up.)
Hope to see you all tomorrow.
