Wednesday Pub Night Portland #130 - 6:30 at Great Lost Bear

Again, sorry for the delay in sending out the email. Hopefully Petra hasn't spent the morning calling Maine Med to find out if we're in the baby center yet. Cause we're not. I still have a week and a half to go before you can really start to worry.
And since Uncle Dan is out of town and soon-to-be Dad Stuart is painting the baby's room, it's up to me to send out the belated email. My pick for tonight is Great Lost Bear. We haven't been in a while, and I know they have Kaliber, so at least I can pretend I'm not 39 weeks pregnant by having a faux beer.
I'm sure there are many things to celebrate this week, but I discovered some very disturbing news this morning as I was reading the latest issue of New Yorker. Which led me to input this very improbable combination into Google, "Trent Lott Smart Car". And what I came up with is:

In a dramatic moment during this week's Senate debate over whether to raise automotive fuel economy standards, Minority Leader Trent Lott (R-Mississippi) pointed to a blowup photograph of a tiny, purple, ultra-efficient "minicar" that is popular in Europe, and, in one catchy phrase, sounded the death-knell for strict mile-per-gallon requirements on automakers.

"After all," Lott declared, "this is still America.... We shouldn't have the federal government saying you are going to drive the purple people eater here.

"When I was over (in Europe), I saw these little cars. I saw people pick them up and sit them over in the parking space."

PURPLE PEOPLE EATER!!!!!!!!!!???????????? I am outraged. But, I may have found a way to fill my days till the baby comes. . . How many emails do you think it will take to crash Mr. Lotts e-mail box?

So join us tonight at:
Where: Great Lost Bear, Forest Avenue
When: Wednesday, May 15
Time: 6:30
Food: Yup

See you tonight!
Laura
