Wednesday Pub Night Portland #130 - 6:30 at Great Lost Bear
Back to the Pub Night home page
Tally Ho friends,
Just back from the land of our English cousins and all revved up to continue the tradition of pub-going. I was celebrating last Wednesday in the village of Upton - where there are no stores, no gas stations, but there is a pub. And when you ask how many people live in town, they start counting, "Well there's Harold and Mary, and then Andrew and Elizabeth, and so on . . . "
I was going to share a joke I'd heard at the pub last week, but since the narrator had a thick Scottish accent, I couldn't really understand most of it. Even the English folks were telling him to speak more slowly.
To ease my transition back to the land of the cold beer, I figured we could try visiting one of the less American pubs in town. RiRa seems to fit the bill of wooden floors, warm flat beer (that's a good thing), and bartenders with accents. And as an added incentive, I've collected lots of chocolates and candy bearing odd names. With any luck, there will still be a few pieces left by tomorrow night and I'll share them with all. Though the choice between the "Fingers" and the "Jammie Dodgers" might be a tough one.
See you tomorrow at:
