What a fortuitous event to celebrate: Sixty-eight years ago on December 5,
Utah (of all states) ratified the 21st Amendment to the Constitution achieving
the requisite three-fourths majority needed to adopt the amendment ending 14
years of prohibition. Ever since then, Americans have been able to drink
freely (or at least legally), and we've been taking advantage of this
particular liberty weekly for the last five and a half years.
This week, we're heading back to one of our old haunts, Una - a place we've
been to only once - PubNight:Portland No. 12. At the time we were
celebrating(?) independence for Laurie's four wisdom teeth, as well as trying
to figure out the answer to the following:
"Today (2/2/2000) is a very special date in history. A date that hasn't seen an
equal since 8/28/888. Though it has seen an opposite on 11/19/1999."
