07/21/06 Issue 1 - Mission statement

The point of this endeavor is to fulfill the fantasies and whims that I have had for the past decade. I bought a riding jacket 4 years ago with the intent of owning a motorcycle. I discovered the ways and means to get a job on a commercial fishing boat 6 years ago with the intent of travelling to Alaska. I learned how to travel cheaply on the open road 8 years ago with the intent of seeing as much of the country on my own as I could afford. I have dreamed of doing all these things and much much more. My time for dreaming has ended. It is time to implement my knowledge. It is time to be the young adventurer that I have always intended to be. It is time to manifest my destiny and live my dreams.

Many things have held me back in the past. Money, women, violence, duty, responsibility. Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. Now I am free.

On Thursday, July 20th, I will begin my cross country trek. My first stop is Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware. I am going to baptise my journey in the Atlantic Ocean. I will be travelling on secondary roads for the majority of this journey. I want to see America and live off the food from the roadside. Mom and Pop restaurants, fruit and vegetable stands. The point of this is to experience as much local flavor as possible. I will be eating cheese in Wisconsin, buffalo in Montana, and sand in the badlands. The destination is a boat in the north pacific. I have available couches in Seattly and Anchorage. I will be taking the northern route, through Michigan. If anyone has information on available couches, or a contact for King Crab boats shipping out of Seattle, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

I love you all, and will miss you dearly, but my life is too short to postpone my dreams any more.

Cheers
Pete
